Why we are doing this...

Canadian travelers have been enjoying the pristine beaches, bright sunshine and abundance of amusements and activities in Cape May County since the early 1970s, when it seemed as if the northern residents flocked to the seashore en masse. "It seemed that way because they WERE coming here in very large numbers, and now those who visited the Jersey Cape as children in the '70s and '80s are bringing their children," explained Diane Wieland, Cape May County Director of Tourism.

"In today's uncertain economic climate it is important that we as an industry recognize and give back in some way to those who have been loyal customers. In celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Canadian visitors to the area, the industry can show the French Canadian consumers their appreciation, while at the same time creating good will with returning customers and building new relationships. The Canadian dollar is still trading favorably and this incentive will encourage more people to come during the season," Wieland added.

Facts about the French Canadian Market to keep in mind...
The favorable exchange rate in 2008 drew a record number of Canadian families to the resorts of Cape May County.  Response to the department's 2009 marketing efforts are better than 2008, which was a record year. French Canadians travel in large groups of friends and family who speak the same language. French Canadians stay from 6 to 10 days because they come from a farther distance. French Canadians produce a higher per person expenditure. They stay longer and, comparably, U.S. prices are cheaper than the same items in the province of Quebec.
